Kate Bulford, 94, of Grande Prairie
   Mrs. Dukista "Kate" Bulford passed away on Saturday,  October 6, 1991 in the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Grande Prairie at the age of 94 year. Born in Austria, she immigrated to Canada in 1903, at the age of seven.  She came to the Peace River country in 1917 and spent most of her life in the Bezanson area, returning to Grande Prairie in 1964.
    She was predeceased by her husband Haviland (Avie) in 1959, a son Harry in 1963, grandson Stanley Nellis in 1972, son-in-law Orval Nellis in 1987, granddaughter Betty Gubbe in 1989, son Harvey in April 1990. Kate was the last surviving member of the Lapisky family having been predeceased by three brothers and four sisters.
   She leaves to mourn her passing one son Elmer (Anne) of Bezanson, two daughters Irene Nellis of Grande Prairie and Elenor (George) Bain of  Elmsworth, and daughter-in-law Annie Bulford of Bezanson. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and four great-great-gandchildren.
   In lieu of flowers, memorial to the Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
   Funeral service for Kate Bulford, will be held in he Oliver Funeral Chapel, Grande Prairie, on Wednesday, October 10, 1990 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Vern Wishart officiating. Cremation at the Oliver Funeral Chapel Crematorium will follow the service

   On Thursday, April 12, 1990, Harvey Bulford passed away in Grande Prairie. Alberta. at the age of 65. Harvey was born in Grande Prairie on October 30. 1924. and had been a life long resident of Bezanson. He was also a member of the West Smoky Legion No.244 in Bezanson. He is survived by his loving wile Annie; children: Lynne (Gerald) Oe of Bezanson. Melvin (Marion) of Bezanson. Grant (Kathleen) of Bezanson. Beverly (Stan) Tissington of Dimsdale. and Harold (Luanne) of Bezanson: 15 grandchildren: his 93 year old mother. Kate Bulford,  of Grande Prairie: brother Elmer (Ann) of Bezanson: 2 sisters: Irene Nellis of Grande Prairie. and Eleanor (George) Bain of Elmworth: numerous nieces and nephews: and brother-in-law Henry (Myrtle) Diederich of Dimsdale. He was predeceased by his father Haviland, twin brother Harry: and his uncle Stanley.
   Prayers will he held at the Oliver Funeral Chapel. Grande Prairie, on Monday. April 16. 1990. at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass for the late Harvey Stanley Bulford will he held on Tuesday, April 17. 1990. at 2 p.m.. at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. Grande Prairie, Alberta, with Father Alpert Sterzer officiating.
   Interment to follow in Glen Leslie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers. memorial donations to the charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.

   Annie Mary Madelaine Bulford passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, February 2, 2015 at the Points West Hospice in Grande Prairie at the age of 92. Annie was born on the family farm just west of Bezanson on May 12, 1922 to Michael and Madelaine Diederich.
   Annie was raised in Bezanson but moved with her brother Henry to the Mission in Peace River after their mother passed away in 1929. They spent 7 years there, only coming home for the summer holidays. When she moved back home, she attended school at East Kleskun, and St. Joseph’s. After graduation she took her schooling in Edmonton to become a lab technician. She worked there for a period of time until moving back home with her dad.
   Annie met Harvey Bulford and they were married June 25, 1947. Together they raised five children, two girls and three boys. Family was very important to Annie and she always led by example with her unconditional love and caring ways, instilling those same values in each of her children. Harvey passed away in 1990, Annie remained in her home on the farm until 2012 when she moved into Heritage Lodge. A devout Catholic and lifetime member of the Catholic Women’s League, her faith in God was her strength and inspiration throughout her life. She was a pillar of the community and always led by example, giving back, volunteering many, many hours wherever she was needed. Her quiet, unassuming, thoughtful, generous and gentle ways will be thought of often and missed forever. A doting mom, grandma and great-grandma, she never missed a birthday or special event. With God and family being the cornerstone of her existence, she and her family have been truly blessed.
   She is lovingly remembered and will be missed by her five children: Lynne (Gerald) Oe, Melvin (Marion) Bulford, Grant (Kathleen) Bulford, Bev (Stan) Tissington, Harold (Robyn) Bulford; 17 grandchildren: Kelvin (Judy) Oe, Michelle (Derek) Stokke, Bradley (Carey) Oe, Laura (Jake) Wasylchew, Colleen (Devon) Bulford, Stanley (Kristyn) Bulford, Sheila (Trevor) Bulford, Monica (Wade) Doris, Tammy (Chad) Bulford, Sean (Shelanne) Bulford, Ryan (Jenny) Bulford, Danny (Pyper) Bulford, Marty (Janeen) Tissington, Sheldon (Michelle) Tissington, Kyla (Jason) Tissington, Brandon Bulford and Madison Bulford; 31 great-grandchildren; brother Henry and sister-in-law Myrtle Diederich; brother-in-law Elmer Bulford and sister-in-law Elenor Bain, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
   Annie is predeceased by her husband, Harvey Bulford; parents Madelaine and Michael Diederich; brother Marcel Diederich; father in-law Haviland Bulford; mother in-law Kate Bulford; brother in-laws: Harry Bulford, Orval Nellis, George Bain and sisters in-law Irene Nellis and Ann Bulford; nieces Betty Gubbe and Rita Bain; nephews Stan and Wayne Nellis; grandson Cory Melnyk; and great-grandaughter Lacie Nellis.
   Special thanks to Wendy, her staff and Laurel and the homecare staff at Heritage Lodge; the caring nurses and healthcare aids at Points West Hospice; and all the family and friends who helped to make her last days so comfortable.
   Prayer service for the late Annie Bulford will be held Friday, February 6, 2015 at 7:00 pm at Oliver's Funeral Chapel in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave).
   A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St).

    On Monday, January 6, 2014, Ann (Stark) Bulford of Bezanson passed away in Grande Prairie at the age of 86 years. Ann was born to John and Elizabeth Stark on November 15, 1927 on the family farm near Bezanson.
   She married Elmer and raised their six children north of Bezanson. Ann enjoyed painting, gardening, sewing, knitting and travelling. She was very involved with the community. Ann will be lovingly remembered by her husband Elmer of 66 years, their children: Jim (Dorothea), Vern (Darlene), Janet (Bill) Doll, Everett (Linda), Annette (Bob) Simigan and Sherry (Ben) Doll; grandchildren: Teresa, Heather, David, Liza, Katie, Darren, Chris, Quinton, Angela, Tyler, Andy, Rick, Jason, Carson, Chase, and their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; brother Doug (Evelyn) Stark, sisters in-law: Ruby Wurtz, Annie Bulford and Elenor Bain.
   She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
   Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 7:00-9:00pm at Oliver’s Funeral Chapel in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.)
   The Funeral Service will be on Monday, January 13, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Bezanson Community Church.
   Ann will be laid to rest at the Glen Leslie Cemetery.

    Elmer James Bulford, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, at the age of 96 years.
   Elmer was born to Kate and Haviland Bulford, on April 5, 1926, on the family farm near Clairmont, AB. When Elmer was a young boy, the family, consisting of his parents, older sister Irene, twin brothers Harvey and Harry, Elmer’s twin sister Elenor and their Uncle Stanley, moved to Bezanson, AB.
   Elmer married Ann Stark in August of 1947, and they raised their family on a farm north of Bezanson, where they lived their entire marriage of 67 years until Ann’s passing in 2014. Farming was his life but he also worked on the rigs as a boiler man during the winter months. For a few years, he also worked at Civic Tire in Grande Prairie.
   Elmer had a strong desire to travel and see the world. Together with Ann, they travelled to many destinations, often with family and friends. He loved family gatherings, woodworking, playing cards, baseball (Blue Jays), curling, gardening, and berry picking.
   After Ann’s passing, Elmer moved to Wild Rose Manor where he reconnected with old friends and made many new ones. He was very thankful for the kind and caring staff who made his new home pleasant and enjoyable. He was delighted when his twin sister Elenor moved in to Wild Rose for a few years and was saddened by her passing last November.
   Elmer will be lovingly remembered by his children: Jim (Dorothea), Vern (Darlene), Janet (Bill) Doll, Everett (Linda), Annette (Bob) Simigan, and Sherry (Ben) Doll; grandchildren: Teresa, Heather, David, Liza, Katie, Darren, Chris, Quinton, Angela, Tyler, Andy, Rick, Jason, Carson, and Chase, and their spouses; along with twenty-two great-grandchildren.
   He was predeceased by his wife Ann; grandson Stephen Bulford; sister Irene Nellis; brothers Harvey and Harry; as well as twin sister Elenor Bain.
   A Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from 3:00-5:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
   A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022, at 2:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home, with lunch to follow. Interment will follow at the Glen Leslie Cemetery.
   A Livestream of the service will be accessible 15 minutes prior to the service on Elmer’s obituary on Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
   Memorial Donations may be made in loving memory of Elmer to the Kleskun Hills Museum Society (P.O. Box 341, Bezanson, AB, T0H 0G0) or to the charity of your choice.

   Mr. Orval Erving Nellis passed away on Tuesday June 9,1987 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 74.
   He was born in International Falls, Wisconsin, U.S.A. and came to the Grande Prairie area in 1917, he then moved to Dawson Creek in 1966, and returned to Wembley, Alberta where he owned and operated the Wembley General Store, from 1974-1979. He then retired to Dawson Creek, B.C. Mr. Nellis had been a life member of the Grande Prairie Elks Club. He served with the R.C.A.F. from 1942 to 1945.
   He is survived by his loving wife Irene; daughter, Shirely of Dawson Creek; sons. Wayne (Doreen) of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, Don (Ellen) of Dawson Creek, B.C., Phil (Kristina) of Prince George, B.C., Gordon (Carol) of Grande Prairie; grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Deanna, Rena, Crystal and Mark; brothers and sisters, Myrtle Schamehorn of Manning, Alberta, Mayme Branch of Alexandria. Louisiana, U.S.A.:  Ted, Lloyd, Bill, Harry all of Grande Prairie area; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
   He was predeceased by son, Stanley, in 1972. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.

Longtime resident of Grande Prairie, passed away at the QEII Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the age of 93 years. She will be sadly missed by her children: Shirley, Don (Ellen), Phil (Kris), and Gordon (Carol); grandchildren: Rob (Joyce), Mike, Deanna (Scott) Kerr, Rena (Bodie) Johnson, Crystal (Jadon) Bates, Mark (Cindy), Darla (Linden Anaka), and Ashley (Kirsten); seven great-grandchildren; sister Elenor Bain, brother Elmer (Ann) Bulford, and extended family and friends. NELLIS — Eugene Stanley Nellis passed away at Edmonton on July 18 at the age of 24 years.
   Mr. Nellis was born in Grande Prairie in 1948 and resided in Grande Prairie.
   He leaves to mourn his passing his parents Orval and Irene Nellis; four brothers, Donald of Grande Prairie, Phillip and Gordon of Dawson Creek; Wayne of Dartmouth, N.S.; one sister Shirley of Dawson Creek; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Nellis of Bezanson; Mrs. Kay Bulford of Grande Prairie, as well as several uncles, aunts and cousins.
   Funeral services were held on July 24 at 2:30 p.m. from Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor L. Lerseth officiating. Interment followed in the Glenn Leslie Cemetery.
   Arrangements were by the Oliver Funeral Home.

NELLIS, Wayne Marshall: December 24, 1941 - November 6, 2007

Wayne Marshall Nellis
   Wayne Marshall Nellis came into this world Dec. 24, 1941, at the QE II Hospital in Grande Prairie and passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at the age of 65 years.
   He took his schooling at Montrose and Grande Prairie high schools. In Grade 8 Wayne began a lifelong love of woodworking. Building anything from patio furniture to end tables and bookcases became his favourite thing to do.
   At age 20, work was hard to find in Grande Prairie so, along with five buddies, he joined the Air Force, taking radar and communications systems courses. Wayne once commented he "didn't fly the planes, but he could keep them flying."
   During his 28 years in the military, he spent time in Trenton, Ont. and Winnipeg, Man., where he met Doreen Skelly. They married and had two children — Robert Christopher and Michael Brian, both born in Winnipeg. Wayne spent time stationed in Shearwater, Nova Scotia, Edmonton, Alta., Greenwood, Nova Scotia and finally Cold Lake, Alta. After 28 years, he retired from the service and returned home to Grande Prairie.
   In the early 1990s, he met Carol Taylor (nee Funk) and they married in 2001. They finally enjoyed a long life together, travelling to Kelowna, B.C. to visit family and playing golf, billiards and cards. When not playing, Wayne could always be found building in his workshop.
   Wayne leaves to mourn: his wife, Carol: sons, Robert (Joyce) and Michael; his special granddaughter, Ashley Joan Nellis; his mother, Irene; sister, Shirley; brothers, Don (Ellen), Phillip (Kris), and Gordon (Carol); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and a wide extended family.
   "Poppa-Wayne" was deeply blessed with love from Carol's family: her children, Devon, Colinda and Tanya (David); brothers, Whip (Heather) and Floyd; sisters, Margaret (Brian), Lois and Alice and many other family members.
   Wayne was predeceased by: his father, Orval; grandparents, Stella and Lester John (Moose) Nellis and Kate and Havilland Bulford, and brother Stan Nellis.
   A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007, at 1 p.m., at Oliver's Grande Prairie Funeral Chapel.
   Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of one's choice.
